October Meeting
In March 2008 the Club was privileged to have Mr Kevin Barker (NZ Science, Mathematics and Technology Teacher Fellow of UNITEC's School of Natural Sciences) speak to us regarding his goal to establish the distribution and range of the Kauri Snail, Paryphanta busbyi in the Waitakere Ranges.
18 months on, how has his research progressed? Come along on Tuesday, 13th October to find out.

As this meeting shall be after the Shell Auction bring along any purchases from the auction that you wish to show.

The meeting shall be held at Epsom Community Centre, 202 Gillies Avenue, Epsom on Tuesday, 13th October. Feel free to arrive from 7:00 pm onwards with the meeting commencing at 7:30 pm. As usual there will be lucky door prizes (thanks to Doug and Judith Snook), supper, shells for sale and a great chance to catch up with fellow club members. See you there!

Club News
Many thanks to Heather Smith for another entertaining and informative talk at last month's meeting on her trip around USA, including attendance at the Conchologists of America Convention and Twin Convention (with her twin Alison). The highlight of the talk was the fantastic display of fossils Heather had found.
It was great to see Jack Grant-Mackie and Russell Hodgson again!

Due out shortly - "New Zealand Coastal Marine Invertebrates", General Editor Steve de C Cook, available for sale in December at $150.00.
The first of two volumes of a full-colour identification guide to 1496 species of marine invertebrate found around the coasts of New Zealand. Approximately 2500 illustrations. Volume 2 is expected in 2011.

Our thoughts are with Mike Hart who was booked to speak at next month's meeting, however due to health concerns has had to reschedule.
