President's Report
The April meeting began with such wonderful enthusiasm, sharing, buying and talking! A special thank you to Margaret Morley for her interesting displays and report on the Far North trip. If you want to know how to make a dead hermit crab look real—talk to Margaret! May everyone have a turn at finding such an exciting wash up as we found at Spirits Bay! I hope you all enjoyed the Sydney Show and our Perth Travels.

Our next big event is the Shell Auction on the 29th. Looking forward to seeing you there. Don’t forget your cheque book! There will be a wonderful selection of shells and books to choose from.

May Meeting
This will be held on Tuesday, 9th May at Epsom Community Centre, 202 Gillies Avenue, Epsom.
A sharing meeting. Please bring along some shells that are in some way really interesting — maybe some shells that are rare or a family that is not well known.

If you have any shells that need to be identified, bring them along, or shells that have an interesting story behind them. It would be great if everybody brought something to share — yes we’d even like to see your decorative basket of shells that sit by your front door! This meeting is going to be after the auction so maybe you’d like to bring along your auction finds.

We’ll begin our meeting with the usual talking! then come together for a short time sharing stories and discussing our shells and then move into an informal evening enjoying a special supper!

New Zealand Shell Show 2007 - Wellington
This will be held at the Lower Hutt Town Hall on 27-28/January 2007.
Jenny Raven from the Wellington Shell Club has provided us with information relating to the 2007 New Zealand Shell Show including categories and rules.
Jenny advises that some of the classes have been devised so those who may not have the best collections can compete. This has been added to our website, and is worthwhile taking a look at even if you’re not thinking of competing or going ... yet!
For more information contact deirdre.standish@clear.net.nz.

Wentletrap book
Does anyone have the Club’s Wentletrap book? If so, please contact our Librarian, Gladys Goulstone. Thanks.

Upcoming Field Trip in September
Glenys Stace says a field trip to the "Fabulous Flinders Ranges and Enigmatic Ediacaran Fauna" led by Dr Ian Dyson, a mining and salt tectonics geologist, is planned in September (best time to see wild flowers) to the northern Flinders Ranges and Adelaide Geosyncline geology with emphasis on salt tectonics. We’d visit the Ediacaran fauna in situ, Beltana Diapir and Trebilcock Gap - Acraman impact debris flows. Things cultural, historic mining towns, and the world-renowned Pichi Richi railway and Arkaroola Ridgetop Tour included. About 8-10 days in all. For more details phone 415 9930 or email glenys@stace.co.nz if you are interested and she'll keep you informed.
