August Meeting
The topic for our August meeting shall be the naming of shells. This will be headed by our Club President, Martin Walker, and include information to view via the data projector.
We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday, 11th August 2009 at Epsom Community Centre, 202 Gillies Avenue, Epsom. You are welcome to arrive from 7:00 pm with the meeting commencing at 7:30 pm. Supper provided, a chance to catch up with fellow club members and lucky door prize.
Remember to bring along your auction lot lists and articles for the Poirieria.
Vote regarding the Club's Name Change
As advised in previous newsletters, a vote was taken at our July meeting on the motion "that the operating name of the Conchology Section of the Auckland Museum Institute (CSAMI) be changed to Auckland Shell Club and that the name CSAMI showing our links to the Auckland Museum be retained as a 'sub-brand'" Walker/Poortman.
No points for discussion were raised at the meeting, and the motion was voted on and unanimously agreed upon by all present.
Poirieria

Member News
Our thoughts are with Fiona Thompson who has recently been in hospital after suffering a second stroke. Fiona is now at home convalescing.
We wish safe travel to Heather Smith for her trip to America. Heather will be back in time for our September meeting.
Shell Auction - Auction Lot Lists required
Please forward your Auction Lot lists by 10th August to Jan Munroe at kevandjan@slingshot.co.nz, or by hand at the August meeting. It is imperative that this date is met so that lot lists can be typed and sent out at the end of the month.
A general reminder that the Shell Auction shall be held at Albany Hall, on Saturday 10th October. Full details in next month's newsletter.
